Marie

Marie has over twenty years counselling experience and for the past ten years she has specialised in sex counselling and therapy. She is the State Coordinator of Impotence Australia’s Victorian Men’s Health Promotion Program following her relocation to Melbourne from Sydney and she is Vice President of ASSERT Vic. Previously Marie was the counselling unit manager for Impotence Australia. She has authored the “Cultural Understanding” module of the ‘Professional Communication in Sexual Health Unit’ of the Master of Health Science, University of Sydney.

She has been an invited lecturer for the Diploma of Sexual Health Counselling. She was the founding member of ‘Positively Working’ a core group to establish work placement services catering to the special needs of HIV+ job seekers across NSW and was an accredited case management services provider DEET Working Nation Program (1994-1997) as director of Alternative Networks.

Marie conducts workshops for health professionals on a variety of subjects such as sexual history taking for nurses, the importance of sex therapy in chronic illness, and sexual therapy methods. She has a special interest in sex and illness and is currently writing and designing a creative project entitled The Pillow Book - Enhanced Sexuality through Illness

Frances D’Arcy-Tehan

Frances has had over 20 years counselling experience and specialises in sex counselling. Frances is a registered psychologist and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and Victorian Psychological Board. She is Secretary of the Australian Society of Sexuality Educators, Researchers and Therapists - Victorian Branch.

Frances has an eclectic style of psychological practice which is evidence based. She has a client-centred approach and uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy.

Frances is also a PhD student at Sydney University. Her research is titled: The Role of Genital Perceptions to Body Image and Sexual Functioning of Women. The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between genital perceptions, body image and sexual functioning of women of 18 years and older.
